The Yoyo Assistant by Honor, an AI tool built to adapt to user preferences, is joining forces with DeepSeek-R1 to enhance its language capabilities and overall performance. This collaboration aims to create a more proficient assistant that can comprehend user requests and context with greater accuracy. While there is no confirmed global launch date for this enhancement, users of MagicOS 8.0 and above began to experience it starting February 8.
According to Honor, over 130 million individuals currently utilize the Yoyo Assistant each month, and this number is expected to rise as the DeepSeek upgrade becomes available. DeepSeek is recognized as one of the leading AI models today, boasting results that surpass those of GPT-4o. However, it has also faced scrutiny concerning censorship and data privacy issues.
In addition to its impressive performance, DeepSeek is gaining traction due to its open-source nature. It operates under an MIT license, allowing companies to implement it without cumbersome restrictions. Consequently, other smartphone manufacturers, such as Nubia and Oppo, have also revealed plans to integrate DeepSeek into their own AI assistants.

Recently, Oppo announced that the Oppo Find N5 will debut with the integration of DeepSeek-R1. However, it remains unclear whether the global version of the Find N5 (OnePlus Open 2) will feature this upgraded AI.
Currently, the DeepSeek-R1 upgrade is confined to the Chinese market. If the technology expands beyond borders, it has the potential to transform how users interact with artificial intelligence on a daily basis. Developers can modify and build upon this open-source model to better suit their needs, paving the way for a multitude of innovative applications.
