The beloved golfer is set for a new chapter in his journey. Production for Happy Gilmore 2 is officially underway.
Two iconic characters from Happy Gilmore are confirmed to return for the sequel: Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, Happy’s nemesis, and Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, the tour’s PR specialist assigned to polish Happy’s image before she becomes his love interest. Shooter, a gifted golfer, is determined to rid the tour of Happy’s supposed unprofessionalism.
Joining the cast is Benito Martínez Ocasio, known as Bad Bunny, who takes on a role that has not yet been revealed. This marks Ocasio’s foray into acting following his appearance in Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller Caught Stealing. Travis Kelce, a star player from the Kansas City Chiefs, will also make a special appearance in the film.

Happy Gilmore 2 is helmed by Kyle Newacheck, with a script co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy. Newacheck has previously collaborated with Sandler in the Netflix film Murder Mystery. Herlihy frequently works alongside Sandler, co-writing films like Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, The Waterboy, and Hubie Halloween.
Initially released in February 1996, Happy Gilmore achieved a box office success, grossing over $41 million against its $12 million budget.
Viewers can expect Happy Gilmore 2 to stream on Netflix, though the premiere date has yet to be announced.
