Google Photos Unlimited Storage Feature to be Discontinued in 2021

Google offered Google Photos Unlimited Storage free backup at high quality for five years and it will be charging for storage of more than 15 gigs on the account used.

This change will be occurring on June 1st, 2021, Google will also be providing new policy changes which include deleting data or inactive accounts that have not been logged in for years. Furthermore, Google will be keeping a count of Workspace documents and spreadsheets against the same cap.

Only the photos uploaded after June 1st will be counted and the documents uploaded before June 1st will not be counted against the 15GB cap. So the users have plenty of time to decide whether to stick with google photos or change their Google Photos Unlimited Storage provider for photos.

Google photos are the only photo service where you don’t have to worry about how much storage you had because the original quality photo uploads against a storage cap and it provides infinite backup for high-quality photos and videos which will be compressed itself to make more storage it is also one the best service selling points.

After June 1st the owners of the Pixel will be able to upload photos of high quality for free without images being counted against the gap and for the people who buy Google devices, it is a little bonus for them.

Apple’s iCloud provides you 15GB instead of a paltry 5GB. It is pointed out by Google that it provides more storage as compared to others and it is also claimed by them that for at least three years the users will not reach the 15GB cap.

You will be notified by the company when you begin to reach the cap. In Google Photos, Google will also be providing new storage management tools and it will make it much simpler to delete and find photos.
