Google Maps Become Top Website After The Start Of War in Ukraine

Google is trending at the #1 position with the most number of visits from the US at 26.92%, SimilarWeb has reported.

Soon after the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out, Jeffery Lewis, a professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California, and his team of researchers reported having been monitoring data from Google Maps in Russia. They spotted a traffic jam in the early hours of Thursday morning at Belgorod, 25 miles north of the Ukrainian Border.

In the light of the invasion, Google temporarily disabled global access to live traffic data from Ukraine. This move was aimed at protecting the citizens of Ukraine. Google revealed while announcing the changes that the feature would not impact users inside Ukraine. All users using turn-by-turn navigational data in the country would still be able to see live traffic information and routes.

The total visits to Google were at 82.6B with a bounce rate of 28.18%. The pages per visit were 8.70 and the avg visit duration was reported to be 00:11:24. Close behind are the websites Youtube at #2 and Facebook at #3, while Whatsapp is at #11 and TikTok at #21.
