Dubai hosted the commencement of the World Laureates Summit on Sunday, marking the largest assembly of Nobel laureates globally. This event drew top scientists and thought leaders to Abu Dhabi to deliberate on urgent international issues.
More than 150 Nobel laureates, researchers, and policymakers from across the globe convened to share insights on topics like climate change, healthcare, technology, education, and sustainable growth, underscoring the UAE’s expanding influence as a center for global scientific exchange.
The three-day gathering coincides with the 2026 World Governments Summit. It was officially opened by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Dubai’s ruler.
Key discussions focused on Artificial Intelligence, quantum physics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and energy. Experts emphasize that groundbreaking science is vital for guiding policy and fostering sustainable development.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed highlighted that scientists play a “crucial role in shaping the future,” while Sheikh Mohammed described science as “the real wealth of nations.”
The World Laureates Association announced the establishment of a new base in the UAE, aimed at transforming the country into a hub for global research collaboration. The summit’s goal is to directly connect scientific innovation with policy-making, further elevating the UAE’s status as a worldwide platform for knowledge and technological advancement.
