After much anticipation, Sony has announced that Ghost of Yotei will be launching on October 2, 2025. A newly released story trailer provides insight into the main villains—six gang members that protagonist Atsu is determined to eliminate. This hit list, known as “The Onryo’s List,” accompanies Atsu everywhere and serves as a grim reminder of her quest for revenge, as she cleanses her blade of her adversaries’ blood.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony stated, “Nearly five years have passed since we released Ghost of Tsushima. During this time, we’ve been diligently crafting Ghost of Yōtei into a truly special experience. While the narratives aren’t connected, it’s essential for us to deliver a worthy sequel to Jin’s saga, and we eagerly await your engagement with Atsu’s story of vengeance later this year.”
Ghost of Yotei retains the breathtaking visuals of its predecessor, showcasing sweeping vistas of the Japanese landscape paired with intricate depictions of its historical architecture. Similar to Ghost of Tsushima, Yotei is imbued with a narrative that echoes classic samurai films, immersing players in a storyline reminiscent of an Akira Kurosawa masterpiece.

Preorders open on May 2 at 10 AM ET. Sony is offering various editions of the game, all of which include a set of PSN avatars and an exclusive in-game mask. The standard price for Ghost of Yotei is set at $70, while the Deluxe Digital Edition, which includes additional in-game cosmetics and a set of maps to help you unlock abilities more quickly, costs $80.
For those who choose to purchase the game digitally, a physical collector’s edition will be available, featuring a replica of Atsu’s Ghost mask. This collector’s item, measuring 6.8 x 5 x 5.9 inches, is scaled to match the collector’s mask from Ghost of Tsushima. It will also include Atsu’s tsuba (the handguard of her katana) along with several other collectibles, with pricing details to be disclosed later.
