For those in search of a smartphone that truly captures attention, it’s worth considering alternatives to the iPhone 16e and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While Apple and Samsung’s latest offerings are sure to attract a lot of buyers, their designs largely mirror previous models. In contrast, the London-based brand Nothing consistently delivers innovative and unique aesthetics with each new release.
Recently, there has been buzz surrounding the Nothing (3a) phone. An exclusive preview by Wallpaper* highlighted a forthcoming phone that will launch alongside the Nothing (3a) Pro shortly. The insights suggest that Nothing is dedicated to revitalizing its design approach with every device. Adam Bates, Global Design Director at Nothing, noted that while the Nothing (2a) “got it just right,” the company is committed to presenting “something new and exciting.” This philosophy drives them to explore a fresh direction with each new model.
The most notable enhancement between the Nothing (2a) and its successor, the Nothing (3a), is the introduction of an advanced camera module. Reports indicate that this upgrade dramatically improves the interaction of the camera systems with the phone’s flat design, opening up a wealth of new possibilities and functionalities.
Moving away from the somewhat anthropomorphic “face” design of the Nothing (2a), the new model features a distinct circular lens layout. Bates asserts that this alteration results in the Nothing (3a) being “crisper and sharper,” positioning it as a more mature device compared to its predecessor.

The latest phone boasts a “pro-level camera system” comprising a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera with an expanded field of view, a 50MP periscope lens, and a 32MP front-facing camera. This new arrangement allows for features like 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and 60x ultra (digital) zoom. Additionally, enhancements cater to macro photography and introduce advanced AI clarity algorithms through Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 3.0.
The Nothing (3a) continues the brand’s tradition of showcasing its internal components and circuitry while also introducing new touchpoints, including a fresh button with yet-to-be-announced functionality.
Features expected in the Nothing (3a) include a 6.72-inch Full HD+ display, a robust 5,000mAh battery, and powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip—a mid-range solution. It will operate on NothingOS 3.0 with Android 15, available in shades of black and silver-gray.
As Wallpaper* explored the innovative design of the Nothing (3a), the company simultaneously released a new video emphasizing its cutting-edge features. The device appears to be as forward-thinking as anticipated.
The Nothing (3a) and Nothing (3a) Pro are set for launch on Tuesday, March 4.
