The iconic radio brand Tivoli has given one of its most beloved tabletop radios a full redesign for its third-generation release. This update introduces a sleek new appearance and incorporates Wi-Fi streaming technology that appeals to both Android and iOS users.
While many desktop radios and smart speakers typically support either AirPlay 2 or Google Cast, Tivoli’s latest Model One Digital Gen 3 ($349.99) offers a truly versatile streaming experience. It supports both Apple and Google ecosystems, in addition to Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Bluetooth 5.2, making it an extremely flexible option for various user preferences.
This model provides easy access to a broad range of music streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and Deezer.
Support for AirPlay and Google Cast means you can synchronize multiple speakers around your home—though it’s worth noting that multi-room functionality isn’t compatible with Tivoli’s earlier ART series radios, like the first-generation Model One Digital.
Of course, internet radio, FM, and DAB stations are included, along with an auxiliary input to connect older devices. When it comes to features, the new Wi-Fi radio holds its ground.
The design also gets a fresh new look. Instead of the previous Scandinavian-inspired fabric front, it now features a visually striking brushed metal grille, framed by walnut casing. Customers can choose from finishes in walnut and gold (shown above), white and silver, or all-black. This modern aesthetic aligns with Tivoli’s recent Model Two Digital and Boutique speaker lines, reflecting a cohesive design language.
The device remains visually appealing and user-friendly. The large, bold display is surrounded by a rotating ring that functions as a tactile control knob, enabling easy playback and source adjustments. While a remote control is included, the physical knobs and intuitive mobile streaming features make it a convenient, hands-on experience.
Under the hood, Tivoli’s engineers have made notable improvements. A newly engineered full-range driver driven by a 45W Class AB amplifier delivers room-filling sound with an impressive frequency response, extending from 0 to 20 kHz—better than previous models, considering its compact size and affordability.
As someone who appreciated the Model One Digital Gen 2 for its sleek design and reliable performance, I believe this third-generation model shows there’s still a vibrant future for the traditional radio. If it performs as well as expected, it confirms that even in the age of streaming, the humble radio remains a relevant and charming part of modern life.
