Elon Musk’s platform, now known as X and formerly Twitter, experienced a global outage on Friday, according to Downdetector.com. Thousands of users worldwide struggled to access the social media site, often greeted with error messages like “Something went wrong. Try reloading,” only to see a spinning circle after clicking reload. By 8:15 p.m., more than 74,000 outage reports had been logged, highlighting the widespread disruption.
The majority of issues (56%) were linked to the X app itself, while 33% pertained to the website, and 10% involved server connections. In Pakistan, the outage was first reported at 7:47 p.m., with reports rising to 344 by 8:36 p.m.
This outage follows a similar, extensive disruption just three days prior, which peaked at over 28,300 complaints in the U.S., eventually dropping to around 700. The outage occurred shortly after Elon Musk announced plans to make the platform’s recommendation algorithm open-source to improve transparency.
