Rumor: Robert Pattinson May Join "Dune 3"
It’s possible that Robert Pattinson, best known for his role as Batman, could be stepping into the universe of "Dune." Reports indicate that he is being considered for a part in the upcoming "Dune 3."
According to Deadline, while no official offer has been made to Pattinson just yet, there is notable interest in having him join the film’s ensemble. If he agrees to take the role, it is expected to be a substantial one for the star of "The Batman."
Denis Villeneuve is returning to direct and write "Dune 3," which is based on Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel "Dune: Messiah." Villeneuve is said to be finalizing the script, with production anticipated to begin this summer.
Currently, Pattinson is busy working on Christopher Nolan’s film "The Odyssey." Most recently, he appeared in Bong Joon Ho’s film "Mickey 17." Future projects for the actor also include Lynne Ramsay’s thriller "Die, My Love," which stars Jennifer Lawrence, and Kristoffer Borgli’s romantic dramedy "The Drama," featuring Zendaya.
Additionally, Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in the much-anticipated sequel to Matt Reeves’ "The Batman." This follow-up, titled "The Batman 2," is expected to start filming by the end of this year, with a theatrical release slated for October 1, 2027.
"Dune 3" is set to be the concluding chapter of Villeneuve’s adaptation of Herbert’s saga. The film is likely to bring back familiar faces, including Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, and Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, among others from the earlier installments.
Villeneuve has previously directed both the 2021 film "Dune" and its sequel, "Dune: Part Two," which together have won eight Oscars and earned over $1.1 billion globally.
While Warner Bros. has yet to confirm the official release date for "Dune 3," it has a film by Villeneuve lined up for December 2026. Should filming commence this summer, it’s likely that "Dune 3" will be scheduled for that date.
