Dubai Police have issued a new warning emphasizing that spreading rumors, sharing false information, or posting content that contradicts official announcements is a criminal offense. Penalties can include up to two years in prison and a minimum fine of 200,000 dirhams.
On Wednesday, Dubai Police urged the public to refrain from sharing images or details unless they are officially released by the Dubai government. Authorities stated that distributing or forwarding unverified content, especially material that could cause panic or fear, would be considered a legal violation.
“Your social media post might seem harmless to you, but it could be perceived as intelligence to others,” officials warned, emphasizing responsible online behavior.
According to regulations, offenders face at least two years of imprisonment and a fine starting at 200,000 dirhams (roughly equivalent to 15.2 million Pakistani rupees).
