Dubai Airport’s cargo service has recently unveiled a new pet transportation option, assisting residents with moving their pets across the United Arab Emirates, according to an official announcement.
A specialized team based in Dubai will handle reservations and supervise the animals’ journey from start to finish. This service now enables pet travel within all emirates.
The company emphasizes that pets will be treated with utmost care throughout their travel, supplied with food and water during transit.
Animals will be transported under regulated conditions both on the ground and in the air, adhering to international aviation standards. Dubai facilities will feature dedicated transit zones and support staff to monitor animals during layovers.
Transportation will involve temperature-controlled vehicles, with pets placed in appropriate compartments on aircraft. Typically, animals are loaded last and unloaded first upon arrival.
Certain dog and cat breeds may encounter travel restrictions and are accepted only under specific conditions. Pets are classified based on their country of origin: those from low-risk countries, including Pakistan and approximately 20 others, need to be at least 15 weeks old to travel, while pets from higher-risk nations—such as Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Comoros, and Nigeria—must be at least 27 weeks old.
The measures aim to protect the well-being and safety of animals during international journeys.
