Mac users will soon have the opportunity to dive into one of the most acclaimed open-world RPGs in recent memory when Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition launches on the Mac App Store on Thursday, July 17. This new iteration will include the base game, all updates, and DLC, specifically designed to harness the power of Apple silicon and enhanced spatial audio for an unparalleled gaming experience.
Despite a troublesome launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has made a remarkable comeback, benefiting from extensive bug fixes, performance enhancements, and the impressive Phantom Liberty DLC that accompanied the 2.0 update. Now updated to version 2.3, the game has finally delivered on the immersive storytelling and stunning visuals that CD Projekt Red originally promised. The addition of Mac support was unexpected, but the developers have managed not only to bring this popular RPG to Apple computers but to optimize it fully for their hardware.

Available starting July 17 on the Mac App Store, Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, the game offers a “For this Mac” graphic preset that intelligently selects optimal settings for any Apple Silicon Mac with 16GB or more of unified memory, including models from M1 to M4. This optimization caters to a variety of Mac devices, including the new iMac, MacBook Air, Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and Mac Studio with M3 Ultra. Depending on the Mac model, players can anticipate features such as MetalFX upscaling, AMD FSR upscaling and frame generation, and HDR enhancements for Apple XDR displays. In addition to exceptional visuals, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition promises an immersive audio experience, especially for those using AirPods, which will support spatial audio with head tracking.
If you’ve previously played Cyberpunk 2077 on another platform, you’re in luck! You can download the game for free on your Mac and utilize cross-platform support to transfer your saved game data.
This launch highlights Apple’s efforts to establish itself as a more prominent player in the gaming arena, especially following the release of major titles like Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, and Resident Evil 4.
