Cargo volume along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor experienced a remarkable 70.3% increase year-over-year, reaching 1.09 million TEUs during the first three quarters of this year, according to China Railway Nanning Group Co., Ltd.
“This year marks the fastest growth rate in cargo volume since the intermodal rail-sea service was introduced, with the one-million-TEU milestone achieved in just 247 days,” stated Zhao Jian from China Railway Nanning Group. “With current growth trends, we anticipate the annual volume will surpass 1.3 million TEUs.”
By the end of August 2025, the range of goods transported through the trade corridor expanded to cover 1,316 categories, including key sectors like electronics, vehicles and auto parts, machinery, and food, fueling new growth pathways for high-quality development in the western regions of China.
“Since early this year, shipments of new energy vehicles produced by companies in Chongqing and Chengdu have frequently been exported overseas via this trade route,” Zhao added.
The rail-sea intermodal network of the corridor now serves 75 cities across 18 Chinese provinces, connecting to 577 ports in 127 countries and regions worldwide.
