A new challenger has entered the Game of the Year competition. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is making its debut this year, and critics are praising it for capturing the essence of its predecessor. To commemorate the launch, Hideo Kojima’s latest installment will feature its very own custom DualSense controller. Curious about the design? Let me take you through its details.
This controller retains the familiar look of standard PS5 controllers, so don’t expect to find any quirky attachments. It comes in a sleek black color scheme, reminiscent of the Midnight Black DualSense, which is available for $10 less. The price increase is attributed to additional custom features tied to Death Stranding 2.

A prominent feature is the Drawbridge logo on the touchpad, referencing the new delivery service that Sam Porter Bridges operates in the sequel. This asymmetric orange icon features a bridge design along with the phrase “Both stick and rope, to protect and connect, together for tomorrow.” Additional orange and black decals adorn the sides, sprinkling in some sci-fi elements.
Along with these standout features, there are subtle details as well. A Death Stranding 2 logo discreetly appears on the back, easily missed unless light catches it just right. Look closely, and you’ll also spot a circular decal around the face buttons, giving the controller a unique flair.

How does this controller compare to other special edition DualSense designs? While it may not be as extravagant as some of Sony’s more artistic options, it stands out due to its minimalist appeal. It doesn’t quite match the creativity of the Astro Bot controller or possess the visual allure of the 30th anniversary PlayStation edition. However, compared to more decorated controllers like the one from Fortnite, it’s understated, making it a good choice for those who prefer simplicity. Not to mention, the black Helldivers 2 controller offers stiff competition in this space. Still, if you’re a fan of Death Stranding and want stylish accessories, this controller could be perfect for you at a price of $85 via PlayStation’s website.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be available on June 26 for PS5.
