Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot Thursday during an event at Utah Valley University, according to a report from NBC News citing a university spokesperson. The spokesperson said Kirk was delivering a presentation when gunshots were fired, and to the best of their knowledge, he was hit. He was quickly taken away by his security team from the scene.
President Donald Trump responded to the incident by condemning the attack as “dastardly” and urged the public to pray for Kirk’s recovery. Trump shared on Truth Social, “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom.”
NBC News reported that the shooting occurred during a conservative event at Utah Valley University in Orem, near Provo. The school confirmed that Kirk’s security team hastily evacuated him from the area. Eyewitness videos showed Kirk reacting visibly as a gunshot sounded, with blood visible on his neck.
The university also stated that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident.
