Brad Pitt continues to hold his place as a Hollywood icon, making it a significant moment whenever he takes on a new role.
According to Deadline, Pitt has teamed up with Conclave director Edward Berger for a film adaptation of Tim Winton’s 1994 novel, The Riders. David Kajganich, known for his work on Bones and All, is set to write the screenplay. After Pitt agreed to star in and produce the film, a bidding war erupted among studios, ultimately won by A24.
The Riders portrays the story of Fred Scully (played by Pitt), an Australian who relocates to Ireland with his wife, Jennifer, and their young daughter, Billie. After renovating their new home solo, Scully goes to the airport to pick up his family, only to find that only Billie has returned. With no explanation for Jennifer’s absence, Scully and Billie journey across Europe in search of her.
Filming is expected to kick off in early 2026, with various locations in Europe slated for shooting. The production team includes Pitt, Kajganich, Berger, Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dede Gardner.

This summer is gearing up to be busy for Pitt, who will start with the promotional activities for F1, a highly anticipated Formula One film directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame. In this film, Pitt plays a retired driver who comes out of retirement to join the Apex Grand Prix team and mentor a talented rookie, Joshua “Noah” Pearce (Damson Idris). F1 is set to hit theaters on June 27.
Following F1, Pitt is set to return as Cliff Booth in The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth. David Fincher will direct for Netflix from a screenplay by Quentin Tarantino. Pitt previously won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Booth in Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood. Production is anticipated to begin this summer, though Leonardo DiCaprio’s participation is still being sorted out as he negotiates his contract with Netflix.
Edward Berger recently had success with the Oscar-winning film Conclave, which earned over $116 million globally on a $20 million budget. His next project, The Ballad of a Small Player, featuring Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton, is expected to debut at a fall festival before its official release later this year.
