We expected a new trailer for Black Ops 7 during the opening night of Gamescom, and while the brief preview and pre-order announcement gave us a glimpse, they didn’t reveal everything this game has in store. Most fans are already likely pre-ordering for PS5 or Xbox Series X, especially after hearing that Menendez is making his return. But if you need a few more details to convince you to jump in, here’s some exciting information about the Black Ops 7 campaign that wasn’t shown in the new trailer.
The campaign has been the central focus of Black Ops 7’s marketing efforts, and for good reason. It represents the most extensive and advanced story mode in years. Not only does it support four-player co-op travel around the globe with a mind-bending storyline, but it also introduces a new endgame and progression system that syncs with multiplayer and Zombies. This includes experience points, a battle pass, challenges, and more—so what exactly will that look like?
Following the campaign, players will unlock a new 12th mission called Endgame. Using the same operators from the campaign, you can dive into an extraction-style scenario set in Avalor with up to 31 participants. During this mode, you’ll earn new skills, abilities, calling cards, weapon camos, and other items you typically unlock in multiplayer or Zombies. However, just like in extraction shooters, all operator progress is lost if your squad is wiped out.
The development team assures that the Black Ops 7 campaign will conclude on a satisfying note. Set in 2035, the story brings closure to narrative threads from both Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. The four playable characters include familiar faces like David Mason, Mike Harper, and Eric Samuels, along with a new addition—Leilani Tuuola.
The campaign isn’t the only part of Black Ops 7 to receive new updates and twists. Multiplayer features the return of traditional prestige levels, along with weapon prestige, and introduces a new Skirmish mode that pits 20 versus 20 teams for fast-paced combat. Sharing weapon builds is now simpler than ever—players can send their custom setups directly to friends or upload them online via a unique code. Zombies fans have plenty to look forward to, but Dead Ops Arcade 4 might steal the spotlight.
More details about multiplayer and round-based Zombies are expected in future updates, but what’s already clear is that the campaign offers more excitement than in previous years.
Black Ops 7 is set to release on November 14 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A beta will be available from October 2 through October 8 for preorders and Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
