So far, rumors have suggested that Apple’s third-generation flagship earbuds won’t arrive until next year. However, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo hints that they could be revealed as soon as next week during Apple’s major fall event, which is expected to feature the iPhone 17 series.
Latest Updates on AirPods Pro 3
Kuo indicates that the AirPods Pro 3 will be launched in the second half of 2025. While the most probable timing is during the upcoming iPhone 17 event, there’s also speculation that Apple might introduce new Mac models powered by the latest M5 chip in October, which could slightly postpone the earbuds’ debut.
Some reports also suggest the charging case will see a minor size reduction, though it’s unclear if this will impact the battery capacity. The internal chip may also see an upgrade to improve energy efficiency, potentially translating into longer usage per charge.
Design and Features Predictions
The overall design of the AirPods Pro 3 is expected to stay consistent with the current aesthetic. Inside, they could feature the new H3 audio chip, promising enhancements in sound quality. Additionally, the physical button currently in the case might be replaced with a touch-sensitive, capacitive button similar to that used in the AirPods 4.
Potential Sensor and Health Features
Looking ahead, some reliable sources point to the inclusion of new sensors, possibly a camera module, aimed at providing health and wellness functions. For example, a camera sensor could facilitate fall detection or support advanced features like environmental understanding when paired with an iPhone—reminiscent of Apple’s Visual Intelligence technology available on iPhones.
There’s also active development on adding sensors capable of measuring body temperature through the ear canal. However, Kuo notes that earbuds with such health sensors probably won’t arrive until 2025. As with all early predictions, these details should be taken with a grain of caution.
