ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is preparing to distribute 700,000 Google Chromebooks to students nationwide, announced Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.
This effort seeks to enhance digital education for young learners, detailing the scope of support, the regions involved, the purpose behind the initiative, and the distribution process.
At the event, Mashhood emphasized the government’s commitment to improving educational access for youth, noting that equipping students with modern digital tools is crucial for preparing them to address both national and global challenges.
He highlighted that Pakistan’s youth represent its most significant resource, and programs like this are designed to unlock their full potential.
The government official also mentioned increasing confidence among overseas Pakistanis, who are more willing than ever to invest in the country’s development.
Such investments stimulate economic activity, generate employment, and open doors for skill development in emerging industries shaping the future.
He disclosed that an organization will be supplying 700,000 Chromebooks to students enrolled in schools, colleges, and universities across the nation.
This initiative is expected to significantly strengthen Pakistan’s digital learning environment by providing students access to reliable online platforms, updated educational resources, and modern software that supports research and creative pursuits.
Mashhood stressed that the distribution will proceed in carefully planned phases to ensure transparency and that institutions receive devices based on need and readiness.
A national monitoring system will oversee the rollout, tracking how the devices are used and measuring their impact to ensure effective classroom and remote learning integration.
He added that this program is crucial for Pakistan’s future, as it aims to bridge the digital gap between urban and rural areas, promoting equal access to technology-rich education environments.
To promote inclusive participation, students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also be part of the program, reinforcing the government’s promise of equitable opportunities for all regions.
Mashhood concluded by reaffirming that the Chromebook initiative reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s education system, equipping youth with globally competitive skills, and steering the country toward a digitally empowered future.
