The CEO of Astronomer Inc, a tech firm, has resigned following an incident where he was filmed in a compromising situation with a woman who is not his spouse at a Coldplay concert, the company announced on Saturday.
A statement released on the company’s LinkedIn page noted that leadership is expected to embody exemplary conduct and accountability, which, in this case, was not upheld.
Andy Byron has since submitted his resignation as CEO, which has been accepted by the board. He was placed on leave the previous day, and Pete DeJoy, the Chief Product Officer, has stepped in as interim CEO.
Byron and Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer, were filmed embracing at the Coldplay concert on Wednesday in Massachusetts, an awkward moment captured on the jumbotron that quickly gained attention online.
A company spokesperson confirmed that only Byron and Cabot were seen in the footage but did not provide any information about Cabot’s employment status.
Upon realizing they were being broadcast, Byron attempted to hide while Cabot turned away, covering her face with her hands.
Lead singer Chris Martin humorously remarked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
Internet users quickly identified Byron and Cabot through their social media accounts before the company confirmed their identities.
