Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, often referred to as the “Sleeping Prince,” has reportedly passed away at the age of 36, as shared on social media platforms.

He had been in a coma since 2005, following a car accident in London when he was just 15 years old.

In a heartfelt social media post regarding his son’s passing, the prince’s father quoted a verse from the Holy Quran: “O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him]. Enter among My [righteous] servants and enter My Paradise.”

He added, “With heavy hearts that accept God’s will, we mourn our beloved son, Prince Al-Waleed Bin Khalid Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. May God grant him mercy.”

Prince Khalid announced that the funeral prayer will be conducted on Sunday, and mourning gatherings will take place over the following three days—Sunday through Tuesday—for anyone wanting to pay their respects.

At the time of his accident, the young prince was a student at a military college.

For nearly twenty years, his family remained by his side, holding onto hope for a miracle. They took care of him at a medical facility in Saudi Arabia and frequently updated the public on his condition.

On Saturday, his father confirmed that the prince had passed away peacefully.

Earlier this year, a video circulated on social media falsely claiming that the prince had awakened from his coma. The footage featured old clips of him, along with text indicating he had regained consciousness after two decades. While the video gained traction and many were led to believe it, it was ultimately verified that he had not awakened.
