An explosion at a training facility run by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has reportedly claimed the lives of three deputies, according to Fox News and local outlets. However, officials have yet to confirm any fatalities.
A representative for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the explosion took place at the Biscailuz Center Academy Training in East Los Angeles. The cause of the explosion is currently being investigated, and authorities are not prepared to confirm any casualties at this time.
The Los Angeles Times, citing unnamed sources, reported that a bomb squad was in the process of handling some explosives when the explosion occurred.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi shared on social media that she had spoken with U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Bill Essayli, regarding what seems to be a tragic event that resulted in at least three deaths at a law enforcement training facility in Los Angeles.
Bondi also stated that federal agents were on-site and actively gathering information about the incident.
California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office confirmed that he had been briefed about the “reported explosion” and is “closely monitoring the situation.”
