The tenth day of Muharram, commonly referred to as Ashura, was observed worldwide with deep reverence on Sunday. Millions participated in somber processions to honor the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the cherished grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who gave his life during the Battle of Karbala.
This day serves as a profound reminder of Imam Hussain’s (RA) steadfast courage, as well as that of his family and loyal companions, who valiantly stood up for Islamic values in the face of oppression.
While many commemorate Ashura by making the pilgrimage to Imam Hussain’s (RA) shrine in Karbala, Iraq, devotees dressed in black gathered in cities globally, expressing their grief and devotion through orderly and heartfelt rituals.
These processions highlight the significant spiritual bond followers maintain with the sacrifices made over a thousand years ago.
