On Saturday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was seen at a religious event, with a video broadcast by state television. This appearance came after it was reported that he had been in a “secure location” for the past 12 days amid ongoing airstrikes from Israel, which have resulted in the deaths of prominent Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists.
The footage showed a sizable crowd at the Ashura ceremony, a significant occasion in the Muslim calendar, as Khamenei entered a hall that frequently hosts government events, with attendees chanting in praise.
Due to security concerns, Khamenei had previously communicated through pre-recorded messages during the conflict that began on June 13 and limited his public appearances.
In a pre-recorded message aired on June 26, Khamenei asserted that Iran would not back down, in response to statements from U.S. President Donald Trump.
