LONDON: A new campaign has taken to the streets of London, featuring the city’s famous black taxis, aimed at positioning Pakistan as a premier tech destination.
Approximately 50 black taxis are showcasing the slogan “Think Tech, Think Pakistan,” promoting the country as the go-to spot for cutting-edge technology and media, with support from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication.
The initiative follows Pakistan’s participation in London Tech Week 2025, held at the Olympia, which wrapped up last week, and marks an important step in the nation’s ongoing strategy to establish itself as a leading player in the global tech arena.
Fourteen representatives from various Pakistani tech companies attended the London Tech Week, with the delegation organized by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
Abu Bakar, CEO of PSEB, remarked on the collaboration of 14 of Pakistan’s most innovative tech firms at one of the world’s biggest innovation showcases.
“There has been a notable interest in Pakistan from investors, enterprise buyers, policymakers, and members of the diaspora eager to learn more about the nation’s rapidly advancing digital landscape. The slogan ‘Think Tech, Think Pakistan’ was echoed throughout the event. Engagement on digital platforms under #ThinkTechThinkPakistan is rising, including a competition for a chance to win a trip to Lahore or a $1,000 prize,” he noted.
Standing beside a black taxi in Central London, Amir Anzur, CMO of PSEB, stated: “The ‘Think Tech, Think Pakistan’ campaign has gained popularity across London and social media. Our proposition is being viewed by tens of thousands daily. Currently, Pakistan’s tech export market is nearly $4 billion and is growing at 23% annually. We aim to elevate this to $15 billion within five years, tapping into our vast pool of educated, English-speaking youth who are tech-savvy and highly engaged globally.”
He expressed gratitude to PM Shehbaz Sharif and IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja for their unwavering support and vision for technology.
In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif celebrated the impact of Pakistan’s participation, stating, “I commend all stakeholders for a powerful representation of Pakistan at London Tech Week 2025. This showcases Pakistan as a forward-thinking nation leveraging technology and innovation to connect with the world.”
“Our presence at such a significant platform symbolizes our expanding digital presence and global aspirations. I applaud the Ministry of IT, PSEB, TDAP, and our tech entrepreneurs for showcasing Pakistan with clarity and ambition,” he added.
Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, highlighted, “Our accomplishments at London Tech Week are the fruits of unified ambition and collaboration among the government, industry, and our diaspora. Pakistan is no longer merely knocking; we are asserting ourselves as a valuable global tech partner. Our talent pool, cost efficiency, and innovation capabilities are becoming increasingly irresistible.”
