Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has issued a strong denunciation of Israel’s attacks on Iran, categorizing them as breaches of international law.
During a recent phone call with Iran’s newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian, the Crown Prince stated that such military actions infringe upon Iran’s sovereignty and national security, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
He cautioned that Israel’s military actions had disrupted existing initiatives aimed at defusing tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear program, jeopardizing ongoing diplomatic talks.
The Crown Prince emphasized Saudi Arabia’s long-standing position against the use of force in settling conflicts, highlighting the crucial role of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving differences.
His comments came shortly after Israel conducted missile strikes on Iran that resulted in the deaths of at least 78 individuals, including high-ranking military officials, nuclear scientists, and other prominent figures. This marked a significant and lethal escalation in hostilities.
The exchange of military strikes between the two nations continued over the weekend until early Sunday morning.
The Crown Prince extended his condolences to President Pezeshkian, the Iranian populace, and the families of the casualties, wishing for a swift recovery for the injured.
In appreciation, President Pezeshkian thanked King Salman of Saudi Arabia for ensuring the safety and comfort of Iranian pilgrims during the Hajj and for the smooth services provided until their safe return home.
Additionally, the Crown Prince had a separate discussion with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, focusing on the repercussions of Israel’s recent military actions against Iran. He underscored the urgency of bolstering diplomatic efforts to alleviate tensions and resolve ongoing disputes.
Furthermore, the Crown Prince spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to address the escalating regional tensions following Israel’s strikes on Iran, reviewing the current situation together.
