President Macron Lightheartedly Responds to Wife’s Playful Gesture During Vietnam Visit
On May 25, 2025, as President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, arrived in Vietnam to kick off their Southeast Asia tour, a light-hearted moment occurred. In footage captured at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, Brigitte was seen playfully pushing her husband in the face as he prepared to step off the presidential plane.
The incident, which caused a brief pause in Emmanuel Macron’s steps before he composed himself and waved to onlookers, seemed more humorous than serious. Brigitte momentarily disappeared behind the plane, obscuring her body language, before they descended the staircase together, with Brigitte not taking her husband’s arm.
Addressing the media in Hanoi, Macron dismissed the encounter, saying, "I was just teasing, or rather joking with my wife. It’s no big deal." He added a word of caution regarding how video content featuring him has been misrepresented by people he called "crackpots."
Macron also referred to a recent incident where a video circulated on social media showing him removing a crumpled paper from a train table during a visit to Ukraine. Some users baselessly speculated that it was a bag of cocaine. In response, Macron clarified it was merely a tissue and his office accused opponents of spreading misinformation.
An official from the Elysee stated earlier on Monday that the video highlighted a moment of relaxation and humor between the couple before their trip commenced.
