Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive strain of prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones, his office announced on Sunday.
On Friday, the 82-year-old Democrat received a diagnosis indicating “prostate cancer with metastasis to the bone,” the statement revealed.
“While this signifies a more aggressive type of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” the statement added.
The diagnosis followed Biden experiencing worsening urinary symptoms and a recent examination that revealed a prostate nodule, the office noted.
This revelation comes as Biden asserts that he believes he could have won the 2024 presidential election, despite having exited the race amid concerns about his age and capabilities.
His vice president, Kamala Harris, ultimately lost to Republican nominee Donald Trump.
Last week, a newly released audio recording of Biden slightly struggling with his words and recalling key events reignited discussions about his mental fitness while still serving in office.
Biden’s son, Beau Biden, tragically passed away from brain cancer in 2015.
