WhatsApp is introducing a new feature aimed at limiting the number of broadcast messages users can send each month, indicating a possible change in the platform’s approach to one-to-many messaging.
This feature is currently being tested by a select group of beta users through the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android, version 2.25.14.15, available on the Google Play Store, according to WABetaInfo.
Selected testers are now able to access a new section focused on managing broadcasts right from the app settings, streamlining how users can view and control their broadcast lists.
This new setup removes the need to navigate through a separate option in the overflow menu within the Chats tab.
Users can view all active broadcast lists here, complete with information about the number of broadcast messages sent and the remaining messages allowed for the month.

At present, this widely-used messaging app, owned by Meta, is assessing a limit that restricts users to sending a maximum of 35 broadcast messages per month. However, this number may differ based on user account type, location, or other currently unspecified factors.
This limit is not set in stone; WhatsApp may modify it before rolling it out to a broader audience.
The restriction aims to encourage users to leverage modern, scalable communication methods. For instance, WhatsApp’s status feature lets users share updates with all their contacts without any sending limitations.
Additionally, WhatsApp Channels serve as a solution for one-to-many communication, making them well-suited for reaching larger audiences.
This new feature also aims to mitigate spam risks and foster more responsible usage of the broadcast function.
Moreover, WhatsApp is working on a feature for business users that would allow them to increase their monthly broadcast limit through a subscription service.
Despite this option, businesses are still encouraged to explore alternatives like status updates and channels, which are effective and already integrated into the app.
The new feature is expected to be made available to more users in the upcoming weeks.
