LONDON/ISLAMABAD: The remarkable achievements and life of British Pakistani entrepreneur and billionaire Sir Anwar Pervez were commemorated with heartfelt tributes during a grand event in Islamabad.
The dinner was hosted by Lord Zameer Choudrey CBE at a local hotel to honor the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Bestway Group, celebrating his life, values, and accomplishments.
The event also welcomed various dignitaries, including Jane Marriott, the British High Commissioner, and Lord Wajid Khan of Burnley, a UK Minister.

The two UK government officials underscored the exceptional business success achieved by Sir Anwar in the UK, as well as the crucial role played by him and the Bestway Group in strengthening the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the UK.
Other notable attendees included Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, former Ambassador of Pakistan to the UN, US, and UK, and Dr. Ishrat Hussain, a distinguished economist and former governor of the State Bank of Pakistan. They offered personal reflections and heartfelt tributes to Sir Anwar, commending his contributions in the UK, as well as his philanthropic efforts through the Bestway Group in Pakistan.
The elite gathering also included Jameel Ahmad, the Governor of the State Bank, along with other senior officials, business leaders, and representatives from civil society, all gathered to honor a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
Lord Zameer Choudrey expressed his personal admiration and deep affection for his uncle, acknowledging the significant impact Sir Anwar has had on his life and many others.

A highlight of the evening was the launch of a touching biography of Sir Anwar Pervez, chronicling his inspiring journey from humble beginnings in Pakistan to becoming one of the UK’s most esteemed business leaders.
This biography continues to serve as a meaningful tribute, preserving his story for future generations as an enduring source of inspiration.
Sir Anwar’s story, characterized by perseverance, vision, and a steadfast commitment to community service, began in the small village of Thathi. After moving to the UK in 1956, he worked diligently to create a better future for himself and his family.
Eventually, he founded the Bestway Group, which has grown into a diverse £5 billion global enterprise, employing over 47,000 individuals and becoming one of Pakistan’s largest investors abroad.
Beyond his business accomplishments, Sir Anwar is dedicated to philanthropy, particularly in Pakistan, where he has backed numerous initiatives in education, healthcare, and community development. His contributions have earned him prestigious recognitions, including a Knighthood from the UK and the Hilal-i-Pakistan honor from the Government of Pakistan.
