WhatsApp, a platform owned by Meta, is currently working on a new privacy feature for chats that will limit how messages can be shared. This feature is expected to be included in an upcoming update.
The upcoming feature will allow users to disable automatic downloads of media to their device’s gallery and will prevent the complete export of chat histories from the app. According to reports from WABetaInfo, these enhancements aim to provide users with more control over their communications.
This initiative is designed to keep sensitive information within the app, allowing users to feel more secure knowing their private conversations won’t be easily shared or saved without their consent. It adds an essential layer of privacy and security to users’ chats.
Meta plans to roll out these features to iOS users in the near future.
In addition to limiting media downloads, the feature will also restrict the exporting of entire chat histories, ensuring that users are unable to move discussions outside of the app. This will protect private conversations within the secure framework of WhatsApp.
