US President Donald Trump Hosts Ramadan Iftar Dinner at the White House
On March 27, 2025, President Donald Trump celebrated the first Ramadan Iftar dinner of his second term at the White House, where he expressed his appreciation to the “hundreds of thousands” of Muslim Americans who supported him during the 2024 presidential election.
While addressing guests in the State Dining Room, Trump extended greetings for the holy month, stating, “As we observe Ramadan, I’d like to wish our Muslim friends — Ramadan Mubarak.”
The event was attended by prominent Muslim leaders, diplomats, including Rizwan Saeed, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the U.S., and various government officials. Trump commented on the importance of the Muslim community, highlighting their backing in the recent election. He pledged, “We will stand by you as you have supported us.”
The President emphasized his administration’s commitment to the Muslim community, asserting, “We are dedicated to relentless diplomacy to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East, building upon the historic Abraham Accords—something many deemed impossible. We are now working to expand these agreements.”
The Abraham Accords refer to a set of agreements that normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations during Trump’s previous presidency. He noted, "We had the involvement of four significant countries, but progress was lacking despite the significance of the Accords. However, I believe we will see rapid developments soon—conversations are already taking place that should have occurred much earlier."
“We are solely focused on achieving peace,” he reiterated during his remarks.
In the aftermath of the conflict in Gaza, many within the Muslim community voted against then-Vice President Kamala Harris to express their discontent with the Biden administration’s stance on Israel. Still, some credit Trump with orchestrating a ceasefire, which took place shortly before he took office in January 2024.
However, Israel resumed its military campaigns earlier this month, breaking the truce and resulting in numerous casualties among Palestinians. Throughout this tragic situation, Trump has maintained a strong alliance with Israel and is advocating for billions in new military aid for the country.
Additionally, Trump has controversially suggested taking control of Gaza and relocating the approximately two million Palestinians living there to facilitate development in the region according to his vision. This proposal has drawn widespread criticism.
