Anora reached its enchanting conclusion at the 2025 Academy Awards.
This dramedy tells the story of a sex worker who weds the son of a Russian oligarch, taking home five Oscars, including Best Picture. Director Sean Baker made history by being the first individual to earn four Academy Awards for a single film, collecting honors for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing. Miey Madison, the lead in Anora, pulled off a surprising win for Best Actress, defeating Demi Moore from The Substance.
The Brutalist, directed by Brady Corbet, won three Oscars, including Best Cinematography and Best Original Score. Adrien Brody, the star of The Brutalist, earned the Best Actor award, narrowly beating out Timothée Chalamet.
Kieran Culkin from A Real Pain and Zoe Saldaña from Emilia Pérez were recognized as Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.
