The Television Academy has recognized the intense rivalry between ‘innies’ and ‘outies,’ as *Severance* dominated the 2025 Emmy nominations with an impressive 27. The second season of this acclaimed sci-fi series is considered a strong contender for Outstanding Drama Series. What stands out even more is the six nominations for the main cast, with Adam Scott and Britt Lower vying for Lead Actor and Actress in a Drama Series, respectively.

On the topic of lead performances, Scott will face fierce competition from Noah Wyle, nominated for his role as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in *The Pitt*. This marks Wyle's first Emmy nomination since he received five consecutive nods in the '90s for his role as Dr. John Carter on *ER*. While it seems challenging for *The Pitt* to surpass *Severance* for Outstanding Drama, there’s a compelling narrative surrounding Wyle that could boost his chances over Scott.

In total, it was a momentous day for Apple TV+. Besides *Severance* securing the top drama nominations, *The Studio* led the comedy category with 23 nominations. This satirical look into the inner workings of a fictional film studio excelled in several comedic categories, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor (Seth Rogen), Supporting Actor (Ike Barinholtz), and Supporting Actress (Kathryn Hahn and Catherine O’Hara).

HBO also showcased robust performances with *The Penguin* scoring 24 nominations, followed closely by *The White Lotus* with 23, and *The Last of Us* with 16 nominations. Other notable contenders included *Hacks* with 14 and *The Pitt* with 13.

The 2025 Emmy Awards are set to occur on September 14, 2025. Comedian Nate Bargatze will host the event, which will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, airing live on CBS and available for streaming on Paramount+.
