The YouTube platform, owned by Alphabet, announced on Thursday that it has successfully reached an agreement with Fox. This deal ensures that Fox News, Fox Sports, and other Fox channels will remain accessible to YouTube TV subscribers. Details about the financial specifics of the deal were not disclosed.

Earlier in the week, YouTube was involved in discussions with Fox, with the media company requesting payments that exceeded what other partner networks with similar content were receiving. By Wednesday, YouTube announced it had secured a short-term arrangement with Fox, giving both sides more time to negotiate a longer-term distribution agreement.

This dispute is reminiscent of a February deal where YouTube TV retained channels like CBS, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon after initial negotiations for a new contract faltered, threatening the future of that partnership. The ongoing carriage disagreement drew attention from FCC Chair Brendan Carr, who expressed concern that Fox channels being removed from YouTube TV would be a “disastrous outcome.”

Carr emphasized on social media that millions of Americans depend on YouTube for news and sports, including this week’s big game between Texas and Ohio State, urging Google to finalize a deal.
