If you’re looking to upgrade your PC to Windows 11 but have discovered that your motherboard doesn’t support Intel’s 8th generation core processors, you might feel stuck. Fortunately, there is a straightforward solution that allows you to enjoy Windows 11 without upgrading your hardware.

  1. Understand Your Situation: First, recognize that some older motherboards do not meet the compatibility requirements for Windows 11. However, if you’re happy with your current setup and simply want to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 without going through the hassle of hardware changes, you can do so with a few simple steps.

  2. Watch the Tutorial: An excellent resource is a video that walks you through the process of installing Windows 11 on an unsupported PC. This approach has proven to be the simplest and most effective, according to many users. You can check out the video here.

  3. Download Windows 11: To get started, you will need the Windows 11 24H2 ISO file. This file can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft website. Access the download page here.

  4. Get a File Utility: To extract and manage the ISO file, you will need a file utility. A popular option is 7-Zip, which you can download for free. If you’re using a 64-bit system, make sure to download the top option on the 7-Zip site here.

  5. Repeat When Necessary: One thing to keep in mind is that whenever Microsoft releases new builds of Windows 11, you’ll need to repeat this installation process. Unfortunately, PCs that don’t meet the minimum hardware requirements won’t receive automatic updates.

  6. Stay Current with Updates: While you may not get the latest feature updates automatically, you will still receive monthly cumulative updates, which means your operating system can remain secure and stable beyond October 2025 with these minor inconveniences.

  7. Reverting Back If Needed: If you find that Windows 11 isn’t working as well as you hoped, you have a safety net. You can revert back to Windows 10 within 10 days of upgrading, provided you don’t delete the upgrade files or the Windows.old folder. For guidance on this, watch the tutorial on rolling back to Windows 10 here.

By following these steps, you can successfully upgrade to Windows 11 on your existing PC without the stress of hardware upgrades. Enjoy the new features of Windows 11 while maintaining your current setup!
