If you’re looking to upgrade your current PC to Windows 11 but have found that your hardware doesn’t meet the necessary requirements, don’t worry! Many users face this problem, and luckily, there’s a way to still make the transition. Here’s a simple guide on how to upgrade to Windows 11 even on unsupported hardware.

First, let’s accept the reality: your PC may not support the necessary upgrades to meet the requirements for Windows 11. However, if you’re content with your device and want to perform an in-place upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (version 24H2), follow these steps to get started.

  1. Watch an Informative Video: I highly recommend checking out this video that explains the easiest method to install Windows 11 on your unsupported PC. It’s based on my experience trying various methods over the last three years, and I found this to be the simplest way. You can watch the video here: Install Windows 11 on Unsupported PC.

  2. Download the Windows 11 ISO File: Next, you’ll need to download the Windows 11 version 24H2 ISO file. This file is essential for the installation process. Head over to the official Microsoft website to grab it: Download Windows 11.

  3. Get 7-Zip File Utility: To help you extract the ISO file easily, download the free 7-Zip file utility. It’s user-friendly, and the link for the 64-bit version is available here: Download 7-Zip.

  4. Install Windows 11: After downloading the ISO file and 7-Zip, follow the instructions in the video to perform the installation. Ensure your important files are backed up just in case you need to restore them later.

  5. Annual Upgrades: Keep in mind that each October, when Microsoft releases new builds, you will need to repeat this process since your PC doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for automatic updates. Fortunately, your PC will continue to receive monthly cumulative updates and security patches, which keeps your system secure.

Though this upgrade process may seem like a minor inconvenience, it allows you to enjoy continued OS support beyond October 2025. So, if you’re happy with your current PC and want to upgrade to Windows 11, follow these steps to make the transition smoothly!
