Are you looking to upgrade your laptop’s storage? If your device only supports M.2 SSDs, you might be wondering about your options. Don’t worry; you’re not alone. Here’s a straightforward guide to help you add storage without the hassle.

First, check your service manual. This is crucial because your laptop model specifically supports M.2 SSDs, not the traditional 2.5" SATA drives. If you’re unsure about how to access the manual, you can find it here.

Once you have the manual open, refer to page 2 to confirm M.2 SSD compatibility. On page 44, you’ll see a diagram showing all the cable connectors on your motherboard. Pay special attention, as there’s no connector available for 2.5" SATA drives.

If you don’t have an optional fingerprint reader in your model, you might see an unoccupied connector labeled #9. However, this isn’t suitable for a hard drive upgrade; it’s designated solely for a fingerprint reader.

So, what’s the solution if you need more storage? The best option is to install an M.2 NVMe SSD with a larger capacity. The good news is that M.2 NVMe SSDs usually don’t have a strict size limit. You can choose a drive with a capacity of 1 TB, 2 TB, or even more, depending on your storage needs.

To summarize, if you want to upgrade your storage:

  1. Check your model’s service manual to confirm compatibility with M.2 SSDs.
  2. Look for the motherboard connector details to understand what’s supported.
  3. Purchase an M.2 NVMe SSD with the desired capacity to enhance your laptop’s storage.

This straightforward method will get you the extra storage you need without stress. Happy upgrading!
