The main gameplay loop of Monster Hunter Wilds remains consistent with earlier titles: hunt monsters, collect resources, and craft or enhance your gear. This cycle will be repeated countless times throughout your adventures, where you’ll team up with others to take down increasingly formidable foes. In previous versions, you had to manually track which materials you needed for your upgrades, but that hassle is gone. A new wishlist feature has been introduced, though the game doesn’t adequately explain its significance or functionality. Here’s a helpful guide on how to make the most of the wishlist in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How to Use the Wishlist
To begin using the wishlist, initiate a conversation with Gemma at the forge. From there, select either new armor or weapons and navigate to the equipment you’d like to craft next, even if you don’t have all the materials right away. Once you find the item, press the Sub Menu button to access a hidden list of options, where you can add the item to your wishlist.
Adding an item to your wishlist has two primary benefits. Firstly, it places the item into a specialized crafting menu at the forge, allowing you to quickly reference the gear you wish to create. More importantly, which isn’t explicitly stated, is that when you have items on your wishlist, any monster or quest that offers the missing materials will display a pin icon. This feature enables you to easily identify which hunts to undertake in order to gather the required materials as efficiently as possible.
