If you’re looking to disable the reactions feature on a GitHub discussion page, follow these simple steps:
First, identify the reactions section on the page, which usually appears beneath comments or discussions. Once there, you’ll notice various reaction buttons like thumbs up, thumbs down, laugh, hooray, confused, hearts, rockets, and eyes.
To prevent further reactions, click on any reaction button. When you do, the reaction you’ve added will be shown with a count next to it. To stop others from reacting or to disable reactions entirely, you will need to remove your existing reaction.
Hover over your reaction and click on it again to unreact or remove your response. This action will decrease the count displayed on the button to zero, effectively clearing that reaction.
If you want to hide the reactions toolset completely, unfortunately, at this time, GitHub doesn’t provide an option to completely turn off reactions for discussions. However, removing your reactions can help reduce engagement if that’s your goal.
Remember, reactions are meant to help express your feelings or feedback quickly, so use them thoughtfully. If the reactions are cluttering your view, regularly unreacting can keep your conversations cleaner and more focused.
With these simple steps, you can manage reactions effectively on GitHub discussions and customize your experience to suit your preferences.
