If you’re working with Amazon Lex V2 and want to improve your chatbot’s conversational skills, you should know that the built-in QnA intent now supports Anthropic’s Claude 3 Haiku and Claude 3 Sonnet models. This update, rolled out on July 10, 2024, allows your chatbot to handle more natural and engaging conversations using these advanced models.
However, as of now, there is no clear support for Claude Sonnet 4 in Amazon Lex V2’s QnA intent. While Claude Sonnet 4 is available in other AWS services like Amazon Q Developer CLI and Amazon Bedrock—especially because of its expanded context window—it’s not yet integrated with Lex V2’s QnA feature. This means you won’t be able to select or use Claude Sonnet 4 specifically within your Lex V2 bot at this moment.
Additionally, on July 26, 2024, Amazon updated the QnA built-in intent to include support for Bedrock Knowledge Base and Guardrails. These features can help make your chatbot more reliable and safer when using supported models, boosting its overall performance.
Since there haven’t been official announcements about future model support for the QnA intent, it’s uncertain if Claude Sonnet 4 will become available after Claude 3.5 Sonnet is deprecated. For now, focusing on the supported models like Claude 3 Haiku and Sonnet is your best option.
Staying informed is key. Regularly check the latest updates from Amazon Lex and AWS to see if new model support options are added. These updates can significantly enhance your chatbot’s capabilities and help you deliver better user experiences.
