If you love using CarPlay but are concerned about privacy and the use of AI features, you’re not alone. Many people enjoy the convenience of CarPlay without wanting to activate AI or have it learning their data. Here’s a simple way to use Siri for CarPlay without involving AI or unnecessary data collection.

First, it’s important to understand that Siri can be used as a basic voice assistant without enabling all AI features. On your iPhone, you can turn Siri on but prevent it from actively listening or storing data. To do this, go to your Settings app and select Siri & Search. Here, disable options like “Listen for ‘Hey Siri'” and “Allow Siri When Locked.” This way, Siri isn’t listening for commands all the time, and it won’t activate or collect data unless you manually trigger it.

Next, to specifically use Siri for CarPlay, you can activate Siri only when needed. In your CarPlay setup, make sure you have the option to activate Siri with the side button or physical controls in your car. This way, you can press a button to bring up Siri and ask for directions or other simple commands without engaging AI features that store or analyze your data.

If you prefer not to turn on Siri at all but still want simple navigation, you can use your phone’s maps directly without involving Siri or any AI assistants. For example, open a maps app manually and get directions without voice commands — avoiding activation of any AI components entirely.

Lastly, if your concern is about AI-enabled features like Apple Intelligence or other data-driven services, you can also limit or turn off those services in your privacy settings. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security and review what you can disable regarding personalized suggestions, analytics, and AI functions.

By following these steps, you can continue enjoying the benefits of CarPlay — like safe navigation and hands-free use — without activating AI features or risking your privacy. It’s all about configuring your device to match your preferences for privacy and convenience.
