If you’ve noticed that Siri sometimes adds the name of the person you’re texting without you saying it, especially when using CarPlay, you’re not alone. It can be confusing and a bit frustrating when Siri decides to include the recipient’s name automatically. Luckily, there are some steps you can take to fix this issue.
First, check your iMessage settings. Sometimes, Siri may interpret your voice commands differently if certain settings are enabled. Go to Settings > Messages and make sure everything looks correct, especially the “Send Read Receipts” and “Send as SMS” options.
Next, try resetting Siri. Head to Settings > Siri & Search, turn Siri off, then restart your device. After that, turn Siri back on and see if the problem persists.
It’s also a good idea to check your contact information. Make sure your contacts are saved properly, with only the necessary details. Sometimes, Siri might pick up information from saved contacts and mistakenly include names.
If you’re using CarPlay, try disconnecting and reconnecting it. Sometimes, the connection can cause odd Siri behaviors. Also, keep your device updated to the latest iOS version, as updates often fix bugs like this.
Finally, if the issue continues, you can try resetting your network settings. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind this will remove saved Wi-Fi passwords, so be prepared to reconnect to networks afterward.
By following these steps, you should be able to reduce or eliminate Siri adding names to your messages unexpectedly. If none of these solutions work, reaching out to Apple Support may be your next step.
