You’re very welcome! If you’re planning to upgrade your notebook’s storage, here’s a simple way to clone your current drive to a new one using software provided by Crucial and an external enclosure.

First, you can use any cloning software you’re comfortable with, but Crucial also offers a free cloning program called Acronis True Image for their drives. You can download it from their official website here: Acronis True Image for Crucial.

Since your notebook only supports one M.2 NVMe SSD, you’ll need an external enclosure to install the new drive in before cloning. A USB 3 or USB-C to NVMe SSD enclosure makes this process straightforward. For example, the BENFEI M.2 NVME SSD Enclosure is a good choice — it’s tool-free and supports fast data transfer. You can find it on Amazon or similar stores: Benfei USB C NVMe Enclosure.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Purchase the enclosure and install your new SSD into it.
  2. Connect the enclosure to your laptop.
  3. Download and install the Crucial Acronis software or your preferred cloning tool.
  4. Follow the software instructions to clone your current drive onto the new SSD.

Once the clone is complete, turn off your notebook, replace the old drive with the new one, and power on your device. Your system should boot normally, just with more storage space.

Regarding memory, your notebook can support up to 2 sticks of 16 GB RAM, totaling 32 GB. If you’re unsure about your current RAM configuration or the maximum supported capacity, you can easily check this with a simple command:

  • Search for “cmd” in your Start menu and right-click to select “Run as administrator.”
  • In the command prompt window, type: wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press Enter.
  • The number displayed is your motherboard’s maximum RAM capacity in kilobytes. To convert it to gigabytes, divide the number by 1,048,576.

If you want to upgrade your RAM, you’ll need to purchase compatible RAM sticks that match your system’s specifications and install them following your device’s instructions.
