How to Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

What kind of RPG would Dragon Age: The Veilguard be without an abundance of loot? Once you’ve chosen your class, personalized your character, and dived into the adventure, you’ll begin to collect a plethora of armors, weapons, and accessories for your character, Rook. The power of your gear, regardless of its type, hinges on two crucial factors: rarity and level. While you have little influence over the rarity of your items, upgrading them is a task you’ll need to tackle yourself. It takes a fair amount of time before the upgrade option opens up, and knowing where to start is essential, so let’s outline how to enhance your gear in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Upgrading Gear

We aim to keep this spoiler-free, so we won’t delve into the specifics of what you’ll need to do prior to unlocking upgrades. However, you will first visit a location known as the Lighthouse early in the game. After embarking on your main quest and returning, that’s when the upgrading begins.

Step 1: Upon returning to the Lighthouse for the second time, exit through the main entrance into the courtyard.

Step 2: Proceed directly to the fountain located before the stairs, and interact with the new prompt that reads Workshop.

Step 3: A list of your equipped items will appear on the left side of the screen. Choose the item you wish to upgrade, and the required gold and materials for the upgrade will be displayed along with the expected increase in stats.

Step 4: Remember that weapon upgrades depend on the level of the workshop, which you can enhance by finding or purchasing Mementos scattered throughout the game world.

Step 5: Once you’ve progressed further in the storyline, you’ll gain access to enchantments for your gear and abilities. Applying an enchantment is free of cost, but each enchantment can only be affixed to one piece of gear or ability at any given time.

Enhancing your items at the workshop will increase their stats, denoted by +1, +2, +3, etc. To improve an item’s rarity, you will need to find or buy a duplicate of that item, which will automatically elevate its tier.
