If you find that Siri keeps popping up whenever you see certain TV commercials, especially those from pharmaceutical companies, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Many users experience this issue because some commercials are designed to trigger voice assistants with their prompts or background sounds.
Here’s a simple way to stop Siri from activating unintentionally during commercials:
First, disable the “Hey Siri” feature when you’re watching TV or using your device in a certain setting. To do this, go to your device’s Settings, then tap on “Siri & Search.” Turn off the toggle for “Listen for ‘Hey Siri’.” This prevents Siri from listening for the wake phrase in the background, reducing accidental activations.
Next, consider turning off “Allow Siri When Locked.” This helps prevent Siri from popping up unexpectedly, especially when you’re not actively using your device.
If you want to keep “Hey Siri” enabled but just want to reduce false triggers during commercials, try placing your device face down or into a Do Not Disturb mode when watching TV. That way, notifications and voice triggers are less likely to disturb you.
Lastly, keep your device updated. Sometimes, software updates improve Siri’s ability to recognize genuine commands and ignore background noise. To do this, go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available updates.
By adjusting these settings, you can enjoy your shows without constant interruptions from Siri, making your viewing experience more relaxing.
