If you need to switch your AWS payment method from a customer’s credit card to a payment through your partner organization, here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you do it smoothly.
First, make sure you have the right access to make billing changes. You must be signed in as the root user of your AWS account or have an IAM user with proper billing permissions. Keep in mind, most IAM users do not have access to the billing console by default, so an administrator might need to give you permission.
Once you’re set with the correct access, you can follow these steps:
1. Log in to your AWS Management Console and navigate to the Billing and Cost Management section.
2. On the left side, find and click on “Payment preferences.”
3. Click on “Add payment method” to begin updating your payment details.
4. Depending on your region and partnership setup, you can choose to add either a bank account (for SEPA direct debit payments) or a credit card.
If you’re opting for SEPA direct debit:
– Select “Bank account” as your payment method.
– Enter the account holder’s name.
– Fill in the BIC (SWIFT code) and IBAN fields.
– Check the option to set this as your default payment method.
– Provide your billing address.
– Click “Add bank account” to save and accept the terms.
If you run into issues or can’t change your payment details, it might be because:
– You’re signed into a linked account instead of your main management account.
– You don’t have enough permissions to make changes.
– There are specific partner arrangements that require direct assistance from AWS Support.
If problems persist, the best step is to contact AWS Support directly. They can help you navigate your specific setup and make sure your payment method is updated correctly.
This process will ensure your billing is set up with your preferred method, making payments smoother for your organization.
