Here’s a simple guide to setting up and understanding AppleCare One for your devices.

What Is AppleCare One and What Does It Cover?

AppleCare One is a coverage plan introduced in July 2025 to protect multiple Apple devices under one subscription. For $19.99 a month, you can cover up to three devices. If you have more, you can add additional devices for just $5.99 each per month. For example, if you own a high-end iPhone Pro, which costs around $13.99 monthly on its own, and a basic MacBook Pro at $9.99, this plan could save you money.

This plan covers the same things as an AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss. That means protection against accidental damage, extended warranty coverage for manufacturing defects beyond the first year, and theft or loss protection for certain devices. It’s important to note that theft and loss coverage is only available for iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches, and the Find My feature must be enabled on your device at the time of loss for a claim to go through.

For theft or loss claims, replacements may not match your original device’s band or color (specifically with Apple Watch). The plan also offers unlimited repairs for accidental damage or defects each year, with the number of theft/loss claims increasing from two to three per year.

Requirements for Using AppleCare One

  • You need a U.S. Apple Account, as the plan is currently only available in the U.S.
  • Devices added to this plan must be no older than four years; for accessories like AirPods or Beats headphones, they should be less than one year old.
  • The device must run on iOS/iPadOS 18.5 or newer, macOS 15.5 or newer, or visionOS 2.5 or newer.
  • Some devices may need a quick diagnostic test, which might require visiting an Apple Store.
  • All devices added must be signed into the same Apple Account. You cannot add someone else’s devices or those from family members’ accounts.
  • A valid payment method is required for your Apple Account, as the plan is billed monthly.
  • The Find My feature must stay enabled on your devices.
  • Accessories like Apple Pencils or Magic Keyboards for iPads are also covered for defects, but theft or loss coverage only applies to the main device.

How to Set Up AppleCare One

If you buy a new device, you can add AppleCare One during the purchase process online or in-store. If you choose in-store, having the Apple Store app ready helps streamline the process. This app connects your purchase to your Apple ID, making the setup quicker.

For devices bought separately or after your purchase, you can add AppleCare One online at Apple’s official site or directly from your device with the Settings app. To add coverage from Settings:

  • Open the Settings app on your device.
  • Look for an option that says “AppleCare and Warranty” or similar.
  • If your device is new or recently purchased, you might see a banner offering to add AppleCare.
  • If not, go to Settings > General > AppleCare and Warranty.

Once there, you’ll see your current devices and coverage status. You can add more devices or swap out existing ones, up to three. To add the fourth device, you’ll pay an additional $5.99 per month.

Managing and Changing Your Coverage

You can update your plan anytime. To do so:

  • Go to Settings on your device.
  • Tap your name, then select Subscriptions.
  • Find your AppleCare One plan.
  • Here, you can remove a device to free up space or cancel the entire plan if needed.

What to Do If Your Device Gets Damaged or Lost

If your device has a hardware problem or is accidentally damaged, visit an Apple Store or arrange a repair online or via the Apple Support app. They can help you with in-person or mail-in repairs. Sometimes, you might get a loaner device while yours is being fixed.

In case of theft or loss, file a claim online at mysupport.apple.com/theftandloss. Make sure you are signed into your Apple account on another device or have a trusted phone number ready. You’ll need a verification code sent to you to complete the claim.

Replacements for theft or loss are sent only to certain countries, so check the supported countries list before filing a claim. You can find more details about coverage and claim locations on Apple’s website.

This plan makes it easier and more affordable to protect your Apple devices, whether it’s repairing accidental damage or replacing a lost phone. Just keep your devices updated, enable Find My, and have your payment info ready to enjoy seamless coverage.
