If your Mac is running slowly or acting up, there’s a simple step you can take to find out what might be causing the issue. Start by downloading a free tool called Etrecheck. You can get it from their website at etrecheck.com. The free version does everything you need for basic troubleshooting.

Once you’ve downloaded Etrecheck, open the program and run a scan. It will gather information about your system and highlight any problems that could be slowing down your Mac. After the scan completes, copy all the results and keep them handy to share.

To do this, click on the reply or message button where you want to share the report. Then, look for the option called “Additional Text” or similar, and paste your results there. This step makes it easy to review the data and figure out what’s causing trouble.

Before running Etrecheck, you should check its Privacy settings. Make sure you grant it full disk access by going into your Mac’s Privacy Settings and checking the appropriate box. This gives Etrecheck permission to gather all necessary information about your system’s health.

Once everything’s set, run the scan and carefully look over the report. Look for any obvious issues, like old software, unnecessary files, or misbehaving apps. Sharing this report with a tech expert or following its recommendations can help fix your Mac’s problems and get it running smoothly again.
